The 44th Golden Globes were held on January 31, 1987, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. That Saturday night the ballroom was filled with a beautiful crowd of Hollywood and international stars who gathered to celebrate the best in film and television in 1986.

The 43rd Golden Globes took place at the Beverly Hilton on January 24. And while the Friday evening ceremony was hosted by two of Hollywood’s most “traditional” stars, Charlton Heston and Donna Mills, the event highlighted romance that was seen as anything but traditional at the time.

It’s only rock ’n’ roll – but we liked it. Especially in 1985, when we had the pleasure of choosing between heavyweights such as Prince, Stevie Wonder, Phil Collins, Kenny Loggins, Paul McCartney, and Ray Parker Jr.

Barbra Streisand has always been a trailblazer: as a singer, an actress, and a filmmaker. So it’s not surprising she also became the first female filmmaker to win the Golden Globe for Best Director, for the musical Yentl in 1984.

At the 1983 Golden Globe Awards, three very different actors all celebrated victories for unforgettable roles. But what they shared that night was a place in the annals of historic Globe wins.
