After weeks of absolute domination, The Batman falls to the fourth position in Italy, while Corro da te, a romantic comedy by Riccardo Milano starring Pierfrancesco Favino and Miriam Leone, grosses another €509. 000 and lands on the lowest step of the podium, taking in a total of two million euros.

A hedgehog and a vampire brought down Batman in a week filled with surprising new releases. And the country’s overall box office climbed to over a million in sold tickets and 10 million in receipts for the first time in weeks.

It took the combined star appeal of Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum, their surprise screwball comedy chemistry, and the allure of a treasure hunt in exotic jungle locations to topple The Batman. The Lost City, a crowd-pleasing action-adventure-comedy, aided by game performances of Daniel Radcliffe and Brad Pitt, bowed at the top with $31 million.

Not the greatest week for German cinema: only one film reached six figures in ticket sales, all the others in the top ten hovered around half a million. Matt Reeves’ The Batman brought in € 1,24 million and was the sole film that had more than 100.

The Batman continues to run at the Italian box office. For the fourth weekend in a row, it still took home the highest taking in Italy, although 47% lower than seven days earlier.

Proving that anime movies continue to increase their appeal in the United States and Canada, Jujutsu Kaisen O opened strongly and landed second place in the box office charts. But the number two showing of Jujutsu Kaisen O, a film adaptation of Gege Akutami’s manga series revolving around Yuji Itadori, a young student who becomes a jujutsu sorcerer, surprised even some box office analysts.

Italy and its film production are at the center of attention today also in Hollywood, where this week is filled with free screenings in the multiplex Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles, a few feet away from where the Oscar ceremony will be celebrated on Sunday, March 27th, for the yearly Los Angeles-Italia Film Festival, which brings to the Californian city a large selection of the Italian production – both films and television – of the year. Well-known actor Riccardo Scamarcio was on hand for the opening on Sunday night, introducing the film he produced – and stars in – The Shadow of the Day by Giuseppe Piccioni, with Benedetta Porcaroli who was also present.

The news wasn’t that The Batman stayed on top – no surprise there – but that BTS Permission to Dance on Stage – Seoul: Live Viewing, which showed domestically one time on Saturday only, landed third and earned $6. 84 million.

Italian cinema is once again at the top of the weekly box office charts. In only four days of screenings, C’era una volta il crimine came close to reaching the podium, overtaking Death on the Nile and remaining behind only the two U.
