You may know Darren Barnet from his playing Young Jack on NBC’s This Is Us but now he takes his place among the next generation of Hollywood heartthrobs with a starring role in Netflix’s highly anticipated coming-of-age comedy series Never Have I Ever (premiering Monday, April 27), created and inspired by executive producer Mindy Kaling’s childhood. If that’s not enough, Barnet is also set to star as the male lead of the latest installment of the American Pie franchise titled, American Pie Presents: Girls’ Rules (slated for a 2020 release).

William Goldman’s adage that “nobody knows anything” when it comes to what will work in a motion picture to make it a success, could just as well be applied today to what will become of the now-shuttered industry after the COVID-19 pandemic has passed. With everybody in the business hunkered down for the foreseeable time, those working on the film finance end of the industry are among those wondering what happens next.

In the wake of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), Hollywood has rallied around Los Angeles-based organization Project Angel Food, which provides free meals to members of the community impacted by life-threatening illnesses. Recent donors include studio executive David Geffen, television producer and writer Chuck Lorre, and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the non-profit organization behind the Golden Globe® Awards, which this week announced a donation of $100,000.
