We think we live in an equal society until the non-represented get to strut their accomplishments. Black Panther – poised to break box office records this year -, highlights diversity in protagonists and story lines we don’t often get a chance to see – and, at the premiere, its cast showed how traditional African styles can be fashion-forward on the red carpet, with white, plum, red and yellow making their mark.

Trends for this year are shaping up. Men are leading the way with a freshness we’ve been begging to see for a long time.

After the impactful statement carpet of the Golden Globes, some trends are emerging. Pink – from dark dusty rose to soft sorbet is a choice, although the award winners of our industry chose beaded black, and backs plunged.

There’s people who wear clothes as personality, something they put on as an extension of who they are that day. Their comfort in who they are is self-evident.

The look of the night was restrained. Despite the Golden Globes celebrating its 75th anniversary, women embraced the Time’sUp call for black, with many choosing restrained hair and makeup.

How many ways to wear black?  Endless. There was a serious feel to the 75th Golden Globes Women turned up determined to be heard.

The HFPA was celebrating the 75th Golden Globes, but the hue on the red carpet was one of unity with the Time's Up movement. Actors and actresses alike united in a choice to wear dark colors, predominantly black, in solidarity with the women who have had the courage to speak out against abuse and predatory behavior.
