Last night at Cannes the women wore pastels perfectly. As the stars entered the Palais it was like magic: the flash of the lights, the press of the crowd, the frantic calls of the photographers – “Over here, Madame, over here”.

Feminine. Everything the word evokes.

The nerves of the first days of Cannes are wearing off. People are having fun.

The familiar with a twist. Ladies are foregoing petticoats, women are baring more, and peach appeared in shoes and clothes.

The opening gala of the 70th Cannes Film Festival made a strong style point - there was color on the Palais red carpet, yes, but the nudes/fairy tale flounces trend that started at the Golden Globes is still hot hot hot.  .

Since Marie Antoinette premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2006, Kirsten Dunst has been a festival regular, and a stand out on the red carpet. Last year as a Jury Member she sizzled in one visual delight after another.
