We’re headed toward the Golden Globes so let’s look at that under estimated item – the red carpet purse. It’s an art form unto itself.

Men are still trending blue, while women continue to embrace flowers, textures, and march to the beat of their own drum.

Sometimes pictures just make you smile. As we head into cooler fall temperatures it’s a good excuse to celebrate the lighthearted and the lovely.

TIFF heralds the movies everyone will see over the next few months as we run toward the Golden Globes. Already there are standouts and must-sees.

Colleen Atwood is among the most celebrated costume designers working today. A total of eleven Oscar nominations (Little Women, Beloved, Sleepy Hollow, Chicago, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Memoirs of a Geisha, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Nine, Alice in Wonderland, Snow White and the Huntsman and Into the Woods) and three victories (Chicago, Memoirs of a Geisha and Alice in Wonderland) are the best proof of her talent.

While black and white was expected, the HFPA/In-Style party in Toronto saw two new additions to the fall palette. Red came on strongly – which we previewed in an earlier gallery – but bronze featured strongly too.

The men wore black and gray and white – reflecting the stormy skies above Toronto. Fighting through umbrellas and flashlights the stars dashed into the Golden Globe/In-Style party-to-party and catch-up on the films to see at TIFF.

At a star-studded event the color trends were red, black and white, while textures and prints continued to dominate. Stars hustled in from a rain soaked TIFF to display elegance and style.

As we’ve been predicting, the stack heel is starting to dominate on the red carpet. The sensual stiletto will never disappear; it’s a classic, but watch for the chunky heel to become the shoe of choice as the year progresses, reaching dominance in 2017.

Yellow, color and nudes continue on track at this year’s Venice Film Festival. The trend is to be sedate and shocking simultaneously – oops did I forget my petticoat or did I really want to walk the red carpet in my undies with some very pretty net as a distraction? Yellow continued to be a choice – from muted gold to glimmering mustard and daisy fresh bright yellow, Jennifer Lopez’s Golden Globe statement has stayed.
