A Night for Giving and Celebrating: Behind the Scenes at the 2017 Grants Banquet

The night was warm and tropical, champagne flowed freely and stars, filmmakers and executives mingled with our members and representatives of the hardworking non-profits, schools and universities we are proud to support - it's August and the Hollywood Foreign Press is ready to announce its new officers and the recipients of our $2. 8 million in grants, with the help of some of the most brilliant members of the industry, in front and behind the cameras.

HFPA Honors the International Rescue Committee at 70th Cannes Film Festival

“The P in HFPA stands for press, but it could also stand for philanthropy”, said HFPA president Lorenzo Soria in his opening remarks on Sunday, May 21, at the Association’s annual Cannes party. This year the event served as a benefit for the International Rescue Committee (IRC), a nonprofit organization that responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people who have been devastated by conflict and disaster, to which the HFPA donated $500,000.

2017 CSUN Television Showcase

It was a room full of enthusiastic young students at the Writers Guild Theater on Sunday night as the CSUN Cinema and Television Department unveiled the winners of the documentary and narrative shorts thesis projects from the graduating class of 2017. Earlier this year that department of the California State University of Northridge received a grant of 2 million dollars from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association to be assigned to their television production studios and for student scholarships.
