The Hollywood Foreign Press has announced a donation $250. 000 to the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES) to help in the organization’s efforts towards the reunification of children separated from their parents by immigration authorities.

Director Batbayar Chogsom’s Out of Paradise took the Golden Goblet, the top award of the Shanghai International Film Festival. Besides the Mongolia-Switzerland co-production, the 21st edition of the festival awarded the Best Actress prize to Isabelle Blais, for the Canadian film Tadoussac, the Best Actor, to the US’ Tye Sheridan for Friday’s Child, and Best Director to Rodrigo and Sebastian Barriuso for the Cuba-Canada co-production A Translator.

HFPA Grantee The Department of Cinema and Television Arts of California State University, Northridge – better known as CSUN – is one of the “oldest” grantees of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, 22 years to be exact. It is one of HFPA’s inaugural university programs, providing institutional grants and film production fellowships for students, a mostly working-class constituency in need of help.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association members have re-elected president Meher Tatna for a second mandate. Tatna, who oversaw the successful 75th edition of the Golden Globes, ran unopposed.

Stars and industry leaders converged to Nikki Beach Sunday evening for a very good cause: the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), in association with Participant Media, awarded the Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation (KSCF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to ending violence against children, a $500,000 grant. Support for entertainment-related charities, scholarship programs, and humanitarian efforts is a core mandate of the HFPA, which has already donated over $30 million over the past years and has been making a point of celebrating great causes in events such as the Cannes Film Festival.

In what has become a Cannes festival tradition, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association awarded its annual humanitarian grant on Sunday. The $500,000 grant will benefit the Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation, founded by Indian human rights activist and Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi.
