The Flash got a good start at the Italian box-office, though not lightning fast as had been expected, debuting with €1. 9 million in its first weekend of release, topping the chart ahead of other Hollywood action offerings: Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the live action adaptation of The Little Mermaid and Fast X.

Propelled by three Hollywood juggernauts, the new live adaptation of The Little Mermaid, Spider-man: Across the Spider-Verse and Fast X, which dominated in theaters last weekend, the month of May closed with very good results for the Italian box-office. Over €40 million in grosses overall, about €15 million more than the same month in 2022, still less than the three years period before the pandemic, but nevertheless rising in a steady trajectory.

The restored 4k version of Martin Scorsese’s classic Raging Bull (Toro scatenato) has attracted over 5,000 moviegoers with a weekend gross of € 35,000 in just one day (Saturday, May 6). It was a special release by Lucky Red distribution.

It was another long weekend in Italy (leading to Monday’s “holiday bridge” to Tuesday April 25, which is Liberation Day, celebrating Italy’s liberation from the Nazi occupiers in 1945), bringing good receipts for the films playing at Italian theaters. The phenomenally successful video-game adaptation The Super Mario Bros.

The Easter long weekend in Italy (Monday April 10th was also a national holiday) yielded a rich trove of eggs, if not a bonanza, at the Italian box-office, thanks to the animated nuttiness of the Super Mario Bros adaptation into film. Attendance and grosses increased compared to those of last week and doubled compared to those of the same period a year ago: with over 167,000 ticket payers, the USA-Japan co-production Super Mario confirmed its blockbuster status around the world, ripping up its competitors, topping N.

The John Wick effect was felt at the Italian box-office for the week ending March 26: the 4th installment of the Chad Stahelski's action extravaganza with Keanu Reeves in the title role grossed € 2. 093,876, helping the domestic business to a 16% increase compared to the previous week.

Michael B. Jordan is the king of the box office this week with his Rocky spin-off Creed III.

Warner Bros' animation film Mummies (Mummie – A spasso nel tempo) has climbed all the way to the top of the Italian box office for the week ending February 26. The Juan Jesus Garcia Galocha-directed movie about the adventures of three mummies in present-day London has grossed €408,158 during the weekend, with total receipts of over €700,000.

As expected, the nostalgia effect paid off: the Titanic reissue monopolized the weekend in Italy. The re-release’s 290 screens brought more than 800,000 euros to Disney’s coffers in just four days (since its debut on February 9, 2023), with a very high per-screen average compared to other releases.
