He came without a movie but with a big cause: when Liev Schreiber, who is of Polish and Ukrainian descent, gave a press conference about his new charity BlueCheck Ukraine and talked about Iolanta Pryshliak – Deputy Director of the Lviv National Philharmonic – he could barely hold back tears. The HFPA's Greet Ramaekers was there to capture it.

At the 56th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, multi-talented American actor, screenwriter and director Liev Schreiber attended the opening premiere, eighteen years after his last appearance. ​ Schreiber, best known for his iconic role as Ray Donovan for which he received five Golden Globe nominations, held a KVIFF press day on July 2, 2022 and talked about his recent visit to Ukraine while discussing his BlueCheck Ukraine Project which he co-founded.

Measured in fan loyalty and critical praise, Ray Donovan, now in its fifth season, is arguably Showtime’s biggest hit ever. Ann Biderman’s superbly written drama is moody and hard boiled in a contemporary way and benefits from a cast led by Liev Schreiber who has garnered four Golden Globe nominations for his title role.

After four seasons as the title character on the Showtime series Ray Donovan, Liev Schreiber wants us to know “I am not Ray.   And it’s fine if people think I am because that is great.
