Former journalist and HFPA member Mike Goodridge has come a long way from the days when he was attending press conferences and voting for the Golden Globes. After returning to his UK home to edit a film magazine, he eventually joined Protagonist Pictures as CEO.

Producer Daniel Marc Dreifuss is very busy. Right now he is in Northern Africa in preparation for a new project.

Although never a contestant on The Price is Right, the Golden Globe Nominee Nancy Meyers, a Philadelphia transplant, got her professional start on the CBS game show as a production assistant. Needless to say, though she would not win living room furniture or even a new car, Meyers’s success at spinning the big wheel would eventually take her to write and direct such seminal Hollywood hits as What Women Want, Something’s Gotta Give, The Holiday and It’s Complicated.

Dakar-based Pamela Diop holds a Master’s degree in film and television production and management, she worked with director Jean Luc Herbulot, who is also the CCO of the company, to create Saloum. In the film’s opening scene three Africans with guns are escaping with a white man.

In spite of the ongoing pandemic, producer Rodrigo Teixeira is having a very busy year. And the next one is promising to be the same:  he has eleven projects on his slate, including two pictures shown in this year’s Cannes - Murina and Bergman Island -  and two new projects from directors James Gray and Luca Guadagnino.

With Between Mountains, director, writer, producer Vineesha Arora Sarin has created a lyrical visual journey depicting the internal struggle that is so relevant in the time of Covid: the effort not to succumb to our emotional pain as we struggle to overcome grief in a society that discourages expressions of psychological hurt. Starring Bollywood sensation and the director’s husband, Amit Sarin, the film follows a man dealing with the loss of his family and the stages of grieving, from guilt, overwhelming sadness, to the ethereal ability of nature to heal.

Mimi Bartels is Head of Production of FilmOne Entertainment, which is the largest production and distribution company in West Africa. She is one of the top names in Nollywood in Nigeria and has managed to keep production going during the pandemic – a challenge that she saw as both personal and one on a national level.

Pip Broughton is an acclaimed producer and director behind the hugely successful Welsh series Keeping Faith. The series, which was written by Broughton and Matthew Hall, was shot on location in Wales with Eve Myles staring as the lawyer Faith Howell, whose world collapses when her husband goes missing.

Golden Globe and Emmy award-nominated writer-producer-director, Ken Mok makes his feature film directorial debut in the upcoming rom-com, The Right One.   Under his company’s banner, 10x10 Entertainment, Mok produced Invincible (2006) starring Mark Wahlberg, as well as the Golden Globe-nominated film Joy (2015) starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper.

Chloé Zhao is receiving critical acclaim for Nomadland which stars Frances McDormand and nabbed top honors at the Venice Film Festival. She has just wrapped shooting Eternals, a Marvel super-hero movie starring Angelina Jolie slated for 2021, and was the only woman featured on the Chinese GQ Man-of-the-Year cover.
