Born in County Durham, England, Ridley Scott has been called "the very best eye in the business" and with films like Alien, Gladiator, Blade Runner, The Martian and many more to his credit, he certainly proved that. He discovered young talents who would go on to become huge movie stars - think Brad Pitt in Thelma & Louise and, at 85 still has almost 20 projects in various development stages, with his newest, Napoleon coming out in 2023.

He explores themes that are familiar from his previous work: androids, religion versus science, the fallibility of both human and non-human nature.

Master auteur Ridley Scott promised to scare the pants off people With Alien: Covenant, his return to the beloved Alien franchise, which started in 1979 with his iconic Alien. After his polarizing 2012 prequel Prometheus, Alien: Covenant returns to the elements that captivated audiences in the original: a crew in trouble, an alpha no-nonsense female lead (this time played by Katherine Waterston) and plenty of blood-curdling aliens popping up everywhere.
