The Northman

Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgård returns to his Viking roots as Prince Amleth in the long-awaited drama, The Northman, where he takes on double duty as star and producer. Helmed by writer-director Robert Eggers (The Lighthouse), who co-wrote the script with longtime Bjork collaborator and Golden Globe nominee Sjon, this project is about the legend of Viking prince Amleth (the inspiration for Shakespeare’s Hamlet), who sets out to avenge his father’s murder.

When you sit down to watch a Robert Eggers movie, you know you are in for a history lesson. But far from being a dry, dusty university lecture, Eggers' films have a perfectly calibrated vibrancy.

The massive talent of Nicolas Cage and the brute force of the Vikings were no match to criminal animals at the box office. The Bad Guys, a heist animated comedy about a group of animal thugs who try to reform themselves as model citizens, trounced the competition with $24 million and landed at the top.
