The Independent Spirit Awards handed out top honors to 12 Years a Slave, Dallas Buyers Club and Nebraska at the 29th ceremony honoring independent films. Blue Jasmine, Fruitvale Station, Blue is the Warmest Color, Short Term 12, This is Martin Bonner and 20 Feet from Stardom also received awards at the traditional pre-Oscar affair which is held in a tent on the beach in Santa Monica.

Celebrating the top films from the past year, the 2014 EE British Academy Film Awards took place in London, England tonight (February 16). Snagging wins in the Best Supporting Actor/Actress categories were Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips) and Jennifer Lawrence (American Hustle), respectively.

This weekend, the 18th Annual Art Directors Guild Excellence in Production Design Awards took place at the Beverly Hilton, honoring the year’s most innovative work in both film and television. Voting ended on February 6, and this Saturday projects as diverse as Boardwalk Empire, Battle Star Galactica, and the Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show (remember, the show where Beyonce knocked the power out?) will be vying for trophies.

The Art Directors Guild (ADG) announced winners of its 18th Annual Excellence in Production Design Awards in ten categories of film, television, commercials and music videos during the black-tie ceremony in the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on Saturday, February 8, 2014. Martin Scorsese received the Guild’s prestigious Cinematic Imagery Award presented to him by Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill, his stars of The Wolf of Wall Street.

The 64th Berlin International Film Festival kicks off today and runs through February 16, bringing international premiers, a slew of sales and acquisitions and the world premiere of Wes Anderson’s much-anticipated The Grand Budapest Hotel. As the first major fest of the year after Sundance, the Berlinale plays host to the European Film Market, sure to be buzzing with business.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) and dick clark productions (dcp) announced the date for next year's Golden Globes ceremony today. The Awards will be presented on Sunday, January 11, 2015.
