Universal’s The Huntsman: Winter’s War didn’t bring home enough game as the studio had hoped after a tough first outing at the world box office. This prequel to 2012’s Snow White and The Huntsman, which dropped Kristin Stewart’s Snow White and instead focused on the backstory of Chris Hemsworth’s character, The Huntsman, made just $20.

It’s a jungle out there and, this week, Disney is its king. The Jungle Book, the Mouse House’s new iteration of Rudyard Kipling’s stories about a boy raised by wolves, dominated the worldwide box office in no uncertain terms.

This was not a good weekend for super heroes, at least not in the US and Canada. After two weeks of steady box office drops – 66% right on the first week, 60% on top of that afterwards – Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was beaten on the domestic front by the Melissa McCarthy vehicle The Boss.

After dominating the charts last weekend, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice showed itself to be not quite as invincible as its namesakes.

Despite a dismal round of reviews by critics around the world and laments from fans and film aficionados, Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice the fought its way to not just a good box office opening, but to an amazing result that could have the film's marketing team doing guest lecture circuits at the world’s top universities in a few years time. In its domestic debut, it took $170.

There were no wild surprises this weekend as Disney's Zootopia took the top spot in both the domestic and international race for the third time in a row. At home officer Judy Hopps led the animal kingdom caper to another $38 million, down 26% from last frame and now at a domestic cume of  $201.

After bouncing to the top of the charts in its US debut last weekend Disney's Zootopia held on to the top spot once again, taking in $50 million in its sophomore frame. The animated caper in which Big Love star Ginnifer Goodwin voices Judy Hopps, the first rabbit in the anthropomorphic Zootopia Police Department, dropped just 33% in its second weekend in domestic theatres.

After spending the last three weeks taking in Deadpool's garrulous antics the world pricked up their ears and brought the kids out to see Disney’s latest box-office triumph, Zootopia. After three strong weeks in a number of foreign territories, 2016's latest blockbuster finally launched in the US on March 4, earning $73.

The old gods have faltered once again in the age of super-heroes. After the lackluster performances of  2014's two big-budget biblical thrillers Noah and Exodus: Gods and Kings, Lionsgate and Thunder Road Pictures suffered  a disappointing launch for their ambitious period epic Gods of Egypt.

After shocking the world with a multi-record breaking release last week Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool hit another home-run, closing its second frame with $235 million at the domestic box office. It beat newcomers The Witch, Risen, and the Jesse Owens biopic Race to once again claim number one on the North American chart with a $55 million weekend.
