  It’s been a guest list to rival any A-list event: Barack and Michelle Obama, Tyler Perry, the Rev Al Sharpton, Yara Shahidi, Tamron Hall, Tonya-Lewis Lee, and singer Bobby Brown. They’re just some of the luminaries who’ve already appeared over the past weekend at the Martha’s Vineyard African-American Film Festival.

Although Jorge Gurvich feels he’s an integral part of Israeli cinema, if something distinguishes him within that small but powerful industry, it is his Latin American soul. This can be seen in his most recent film, Back to Maracanã, a co-production with Brazil and Germany that just arrived in theaters in his adoptive country after touring numerous festivals around the world.

Twin Peaks, co-created by television veteran Mark Frost and auteur filmmaker David Lynch, was a trailblazing work which influenced not only countless other TV shows and future creators, but the trajectory of the medium itself.
