Fashion – Edgy Style, Kate Hudson, Janelle Monáe, Gabriele Union

Kate Hudson

Edgy fashion eased its way onto the red carpet at premieres across the globe. Kate Hudson (Glass Onion: Knives Out), shone in a gold Elie Saab creation that shimmered in the spotlight, the sleeves and train elongated the gown dramatically. Given the stature of the dress she wore her hair pulled back with a little height at the crown.

The designer was on fire this week being the couture choice for Gabrielle Union for the Strange World premiere in London. The black and white beaded gown evoked Africa, as did her spectacular hair braids – hair by Issac Poleon. Stylist Thomas Christos Kikis.

Jenna Ortega channeled Wednesday in a look that is sure to go viral next Halloween. The black Versace gown with thigh high slit, lace bodice and bra top was finished with a black veil and multiple ankle strap shoes.

Janelle Monáe also went with Elie Saab in this feathered gown of red and black with her custom dramatic hair. The skirt was supported internally so it bounced  as she walked.

Men brought it in the style stakes. (l) James Marsden in a double breasted jacket, turtle neck and trousers in various shades of grey, while (r) Jake Gyllenhaal popped with a bright sweater and shirt with blue stripes beneath the traditional dark coat.

Below: Jeremy Pope was fresh in a white bolero jacket with an interesting belt that tied mid-back. Jeremy has been killing it in one stunning designer creation  after the other as he promotes: The Inspection.

(l) Gwendoline Christie and (r) Marsai Martin added color to the carpet. The Game of Thrones star kept up with Wednesday‘s innovative style choice with a scarlet Balenciaga gown with shoulder detail that pooled at the ankle with an extended train. The bright bow mouth matched the designer gown, and her hair was dramatic – swept to the side in soft curls. The sculptural Balenciaga gown was even more impressive from the back, plunging in a deep Vee to the waist.

Marsai Martin chose clashing colors for her cocktail dress with a slash at the bust and a flouncing skirt. Her shoes are the bright green that trended at Paris Fashion week – sheer so you can see the feet and applaud the pedicure.
