Chatting with a Brother Grimsby

Chameleon-like Golden Globe winner Sacha Baron Cohen stars in The Brothers Grimsby in which he plays Nobby, a beer swilling football hooligan from the eponymous working class town in England. Uncouth and slobbish Nobby is dim and happily oblivious to that fact, and at the same time good-hearted. He is the happy patriarch of a brood of eleven and married to worthy wife Dawn (Rebel Wilson). He has only one obsession bigger than seeing England win the World Cup: finding his long-lost brother Sebastian from which he was separated at the orphanage. When he finally does, he (Mark Strong) is revealed to be an elite operative of the secret service and hilarious chaos ensues. Baron Cohen’s latest character is his first without a foreign or ethnic accent – unless you count the thick Humberside cadence – and Grimsby is probably his most straight-up comedic farce. Heavily laden with sex gags and set pieces, it showcases his timing and physical comedy. When he stopped by to speak to us we had to ask him about his method … and more.
