Jessica Biel stars as well as executive produces The Sinner, a dark procedural drama adapted from the novel by German writer Petra Hammesfahr. The story, which begins with a shocking act of violence and delves into what may have brought about the seemingly inexplicable outburst by the protagonist, is ostensibly about control and how quickly and utterly the illusion of a normal life can be shattered. The HFPA’s Margaret Gardiner asked Biel about her dual role and about the meaning of control when you are an actor/producer/mother.
