Lyndon B. Johnson, Back on the Screen

It seems Lyndon B Johnson, the once-polarizing 36th President of the United States, is having a cinema moment. Recent portrayals including Tom Wilkinson in Selma and the formidable Bryan Cranston in the Broadway production All the Way (made later into an HBO movie) are reconsidering his legacy. Joining that list is Rob Reiner’s new film, LBJ. The director, himself an avid political activist, admits that he was initially hesitant to take on the biopic until he researched the remarkable legislative achievements of Johnson, as he explains in this video interview with HFPA member Katherine Tulich, who also spoke to the cast – Woody Harrelson, who plays Johnson, and Jennifer Jason Leigh who plays Lady Bird Johnson.
