Marc Mejia

Born in the Dominican Republic in 1972 and holding French nationality, I serve as Director of Communications for CineDominicano.com, the country’s leading news and information portal dedicated to Dominican cinema. With over two decades of experience, I have established myself as a film critic, filmmaker, and communications strategist, with a professional trajectory that bridges both the local and international film industries.

My passion for cinema began in childhood, inspired by my father, filmmaker Pericles Mejía. At a young age, I became actively involved in audiovisual production, working across formats such as commercials, documentaries, and feature films. These early hands-on experiences gave me an insider’s understanding of the filmmaking process—both technically and creatively—shaping a well-rounded perspective that now informs my work as a critic, curator, and advocate for film culture.
I am a regular contributor to NDigital, Acento, and Remolacha, three of the Dominican Republic’s most influential media outlets, where I cover film, television, and contemporary culture. I also host the podcast Marc te recomienda, a weekly show offering film and TV recommendations as well as in-depth interviews with filmmakers, actors, and key industry voices.

My work spans both criticism and active promotion of the cinematic arts. I’ve covered film festivals, premieres, and industry developments across the Dominican Republic, Latin America, Europe, and the U.S., helping build international visibility for Dominican cinema and fostering cultural exchange through media.
I’m an active member of ADOCINE (Dominican Association of Film Professionals), ADOPRESCI (Dominican Association of Film Press and Critics), PIC (Ibero-American Film Journalists), and FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Critics), contributing my perspective to the analysis, appreciation, and global positioning of Dominican and Ibero-American cinema.
