Maria Porcel
Born and raised in Madrid (Spain), where she studied Journalism and Multimedia, María spent most of her career in her home country, where she covered all aspects of entertainment and culture in outlets like ‘El HuffPost’, ‘Marie Claire’, ‘Business Insider’ or, for 15 years and counting, ‘EL PAÍS’. In her previous life in Madrid, she was the editor of the Lifestyle section of the newspaper. Now she is the Culture & Entertainment Correspondent of EL PAÍS for all of the US. Because of her job she lives in Hollywood, Los Angeles, where in a quite unusual walking distance she covers premieres, galas, auctions, set visits, concerts and, of course, the award season. One of her favorite parts of the job is interviewing interesting and powerful women. And, as an Angelena-Mediterranean millennial woman, she also loves a good Sunday TV series marathon, great nostalgic movies no longer than two hours, to dissect Taylor Swift lyrics, her public library branch, early hikes and Pink’s Brando hot dogs. She’s also a member of the Los Angeles Press Club.
