Viera Langerová

Viera Langerová is a film critic, lecturer and scriptwriter. She studied Film and Theatre Theory at the Academy of Arts (Bratislava, Slovakia) and Cultural Studies at the Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic). She worked as an editor for Slovak and Czech periodicals. After living in Kazakhstan and Pakistan she did her disertation on Asian film. She is the author of the books "Film Geography: Continental China, Hongkong, Taiwan" and the travelogue "Urdu, Purdah, Burka. Five years in Pakistan." She regularly writes film and tv reviews for Czech and Slovak periodicals. She taught film at the Baltic Film and Media School, Tallinn University in Estonia, the Film Academy of Performing Arts – FAMU, Prague, Czech Republic and the Academy of Arts – VŠMU in Bratislava (Slovak Republic). She also works as a film curator, film festival consultant and festival programmer (ART Film Fest, Košice, Slovakia). She is a member of FIPRESCI and NETPAC.
