Youssoufa Halidou Harouna

Youssoufa Halidou Harouna has a degree in journalism and a doctorate in film studies. He is the author of the book “Panorama du cinéma nigerien” published in June 2023 by the publisher Harmattan (France). He was a Golden Globes voter for the 80th and 81st editions. He was a member of the FIPRESCI jury of the 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival (France) and the Critics Awards for Arab Cinema Center (ACC) in 2022 and for the year 2023. He also holds a master’s degree in cinema-audiovisual and Intercultural Approaches to cinema from the Michel Montaigne University of Bordeaux (France) and certified in Civic Engagement by the University of Georgia (USA). He has directed several short documentary films. He was president and founder of the Nigerien Association of Film Clubs and Film Critics (ANCCCC) and the Independent Cinema and Audiovisual Research Center C.I.R.C.A), Dr Youssoufa Halidou Harouna is a teacher in several institutes and universities in Niger. Several scientific and journalistic articles on African cinemas have been published, including one appearing in the October 2021 UNESCO report on the African film and audiovisual industry. His areas of research revolve around cinema and media in Africa. He is the General Delegate of the Toukountchi Niger Film Festival and member of the Bureau of the African Federation of Film Critics.
