Diane Kruger, born in West Germany, trained as a ballerina, moved to Paris at 17 to work as a fashion model, married French actor Guillaume Canet, acted in his directorial debut Mon Idole (2002). She was cast in the American films Wicker Park with Josh Hartnett, Troy with Brad Pitt as Achilles and Eric Bana as Hector, National Treasure with Nicolas Cage.

In an evening packed with numerous emotional, impactful, and celebratory moments, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association presented a unique blending of its two major yearly endeavors - the Golden Globes and the Grants Banquet. Normally a grand event, the 79th edition of the Golden Globes, inside the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel, took on a distinctly intimate atmosphere, respectfully following strict LA County Covid protocol.

Sidney Poitier received his first nomination for a Golden Globe in 1959 (for The Defiant Ones).  Two Black actors joined the trailblazing team.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) was founded in 1943 – then known as the Hollywood Foreign Correspondents Association – by a group of entertainment journalists based in Los Angeles. During World War II, the non-profit organization established a cultural bridge between Tinseltown and millions around the world seeking an escape and inspiration through entertainment.

For over 30 years, the multi-Emmy Award winners Michael and Neil Mandt have been producing, directing, and writing numerous content in the film and television entertainment field. Their expertise, passion, and drive led to form their own production company the Mandt Bros.

With his sudden passing on January 6, 2022, we are presenting this podcast with our sincerest sympathies to Peter’s family and friends as we celebrate his legacy and listen to the colorful stories of his life and career.

In what could be called the most exclusive event in the industry, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, on Sunday, January 9, 2022, recognized and honoring the talents of film and television for 2021, and highlighted its long-established philanthropy work, showcasing a range of grantees during the program. Over the past 25 years, the HFPA has donated $50 million to more than 70 entertainment-related charities, film restoration, scholarship programs, and humanitarian efforts.
