Glenn Close came to the 13th Zurich Film Festival to screen her latest film, The Wife and to pick up her Golden Icon Award. Directed by Swedish filmmaker Björn Runge The Wife features the two-time Golden Globe winner as the “better half” of a successful writer (played by Jonathan Pryce) who re-evaluates her marriage when her husband wins the Nobel Prize for Literature.

If Switzerland would like to change the fact that it is consistently mistaken for Sweden in the rest of the world, the Zurich Film Festival certainly did not help matters: after the 13th edition opened with Borg vs McEnroe, which features one of tennis’ greatest players from Sweden, the next full festival day belonged to Swedish duo Alicia Vikander and director Lisa Langseth and their film Euphoria. It’s their third film together after Pure (2010) and Hotel (2013) but it’s the first time the Golden Globe-nominated actress is also a producer.

Vince Vaughn is a veteran of many roles, but be ready to be surprised when you see him Brawl in Cell Block 99, written and directed by S. Craig Zahler, a new talent to be watched.

The 13th Zurich Film Festival opened with Januz Metz’ drama Borg vs McEnroe and some special insights from Swiss tennis star Roger Federer. The festival, in Switzerland’s largest city, includes three main competition categories, several out of competition gala screenings and one last-minute surprise guest.
