2022 Venice Film Festival

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Venice reception this year was a familiarly laid-back affair. Guests networked poolside at the Lido’s Moorish-styled Excelsior hotel overlooking the azure Adriatic.

The 79th Venice Film Festival opened with a screening of Noah Baumbach’s newest film, White Noise, on August 31. It’s the first time the American writer-director has written an adapted screenplay, the source material being a novel of the same name by American author Don DeLillo.

Timothée Chalamet ruled the red carpet in a red backless jumpsuit by Haider Ackerman. Known for portraying quirky characters and being unpredictable on the red carpet.

Dusk was imminent on the Lido but the lights were bright outside the Mostra Internazionale D’Arte Cinemagrafica. It was opening night for the 79th annual Venice Film Festival and the world’s media had come to capture the celebration for the premiere feature, White Noise.

It was only day 2, yet we have already seen award-worthy performances in equally award-worthy films: Bill Nighy moves us in Living and Cate Blanchett demands our attention in Todd Field’s Tár. There was no denying that the 3-time Golden Globe winner ruled the Lido last night, and it was not just because of her breathtaking gown.

The 79th Venice Film Festival officially opened with a Golden Lion, the Lifetime Achievement Award, for legend Catherine Deneuve, and a press conference with Julianne Moore, the president of this year's jury. The night commenced with the world premiere of Noah Baumbach's newest film White Noise, and his stars who walked the red carpet alongside other celebrities in colorful gowns.
