Historically, February is the most romantic month of the year. The world seems to turn into a place of love, red and pink hearts, heart-shaped chocolates, and romantic movies.

He has been funny for more than 40 years - our Cecil B. deMille Award recipient Eddie Murphy did not disappoint when he accepted his trophy at the 80th Golden Globe Awards.

Eddie Murphy, the 2023 recipient of the Cecil B. deMille award at the 80th Golden Globes, had won Best Supporting Actor in 2007 for Dreamgirls, directed by Bill Condon from the 1981 stage musical.

Today the Hollywood Foreign Press Association® (HFPA) announced that Golden Globe Award® winner and six-time nominee Eddie Murphy will be honored with the coveted Cecil B. deMille Award at the 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards.

“It’s not a biopic,” Eddie Murphy stressed about Dolemite Is My Name, in which he plays Rudy Ray Moore, an actor-comedian who created the Dolemite character in movies and records in the 1970s. “This movie is not about Rudy Ray Moore’s life, where he was from and where he was born,” added Eddie, whose portrayal of the man nicknamed as “the Godfather of Rap” earned him the Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy nomination for the 77th Golden Globes.
