It was a busy week in New York City: stars from the Showtime series The Affair – launching Season 2 in October – and Netflix’s entry in the Marvel Multiverse, Jessica Jones – premiering later in the Fall – were in town to promote their work … and to show off their flair for fashion. It doesn’t matter that funny man Ed Helms is looking suave in a Gant Jacket and John Varvatos shoes – people are going to laugh at him anyway. Despite credits that include The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, NBC’s The Office, and The Hangover trilogy, the native from Atlanta, Georgia was a little nervous about taking on Vacation, the latest installment in a slew of films that began with National Lampoon’s Vacation, back in 1983.

Part of the delight of Comic-Con is walking the streets and seeing people not only pay homage to their favorite super hero, but to recognize that we all have an alter ego. That is perhaps the truest sense of “cosplay”.

Starz threw a party in honor of its time-bending drama Outlander as part of its Comic Con slate. At the Starz bash, Caitriona Balfe, Outlander’s Claire Beauchamp, was stunning in a Vintage dress, despite having arrived a few hours earlier from the UK and driven directly to San Diego for this year’s Comic-Con.
