#BlackGirlMagic was created by The Inner-City Arts Repertory Dance Company in our Youth Performance Ensemble production of "Anywhere & Everywhere, In Our America," directed by Marissa Herrera in the summer of 2019 at The Rosenthal Theater. In the words of dance company member, Ashlee Hodge, "#BlackGirlMagic means a lot to me.

The California State Summer School for the Arts is a California state agency funded through public-private partnerships. The School’s goal is to provide a training ground for future artists who wish to pursue careers in the arts and entertainment industries in California.

The Los Angeles County High School for the Arts (LACHSA) Cinematic Arts Department trains the next generation of visual storytellers, content creators, media innovators and digital disruptors.   Since the inaugural class of 2017, the Cinematic Arts Department has quickly evolved into the premier High School Cinematic Arts program in the country.

TFT is a program of LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes geared to young Latinx filmmakers.   LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes honors the past, inspires the future, and recognizes the enduring cultural influence of Mexicans, Mexican Americans and all Latinas/Latinos in Los Angeles through transformative exhibitions, programming and educational experiences.

Echo Park Film Center is a non-profit media arts organization committed to providing equal and affordable community access to film/video resources. We feel it is imperative that more members of marginalized communities become active participants in the creation and dissemination of experimental and documentary films in order to truly share the many powerful voices and visions that make up the fabric of contemporary life.

Las Fotos Project is a non-profit organization with a mission to elevate the voices of teenage girls from communities of color through photography and mentoring, empowering them to channel their creativity for the benefit of themselves, their community, and future careers. Hear from past students and mentors about the impact photography has on the Los Angeles community.

When HFPA reached out to KITS about creating an introduction video for the organization, we realized it was an opportunity for our youth to produce a video for a client while utilizing the filmmaking skills they learned from our programs. After conceptualizing what the promo video would look like, five (5) of our youth filmmakers wrote the promo video script.

As an association of journalists which includes many freelance reporters and entertainment journalists, HFPA members are well cognizant of the seismic changes the profession has undergone in recent years. As traditional business models and revenue streams have been called into question by the mergence of the internet and digital media, newsrooms have been decimated in the US and the world over.

The HFPA has been a proud supporter of Project Involve, the mentoring and artist development program run by Film Independent. For over 25 years the program has incubated the careers of aspiring filmmakers by pairing young creators with top Hollywood mentors to pursue industry tracks ranging from animation to festival programming, editing, cinematography, writing, directing and producing.
