Fresh off Golden Globe and Oscar nominations for his breakout 2017 film Call Me By Your Name, Timothée Hal Chalamet is once again showcasing his formidable talent in the award season race; this time for his powerful performance as Nic Sheff in Beautiful Boy. The 23-year-old native New Yorker is nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture playing a teenager battling not only addiction but a crisis of confidence.

He has been a movie star for so long that it never occurred to us that one day he might stop acting. So, it came as sort of a shock earlier this year when 82-year-old Robert Redford revealed that The Old Man & the Gun would be his last film as an actor, after a glorious career spanning 60 years.

In a prolific film career that started in 1982 with The World According to Garp, 71-year-old Glenn Close has played dozens of iconic parts. Who can forget her performances in movies like The Big Chill, The Natural, Fatal Attraction, Dangerous Liaisons, Jagged Edge, 101 Dalmatians, Mars Attack, Albert Nobbs… And now with The Wife, she is once again proving her astonishing versatility.

Originally from San Diego, Adam Driver grew up with his mother and stepfather in Mishawaka, Indiana where he was an occasional theater actor and church choir singer.

Grant plays Jack Hock, the best friend and accomplice to Lee Israel (Melissa McCarthy), a writer of biographies and forger.

Nominated: Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in any Motion PictureIt was her breathtaking portrayal of Elizabeth the Second in the worldwide sensation, The Crown which earned Claire Foy endless awards as best television actress including the Golden Globe. As a result, she got the coveted role opposite Ryan Gosling in First Man, for which she is once again a Golden Globe nominee, but this time for film, not TV.

Nominated: Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - DramaJohn David Washington received his first Golden Globe nomination for his performance in Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman, in which he plays Ron Stallworth, an idealistic black cop who joins the all-white Colorado Spring police force. Based on a memoir by the real-life detective, “Black Klansman: Race, Hate, and the Undercover Investigation of a Lifetime”, this stranger-than-fiction tale is John David Washington’s first leading role and tells the story of how Stallworth impersonated a white supremacist and infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan in the 1970s.

Nominated: Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - DramaFor niche audiences, Melissa McCarthy was always a known quantity. She played Sookie, Lorelei’s best friend on Gilmore Girls for three years and basically the same role in the Sandra Bullock’s The Back-Up Plan and Katherine Heigl’s Life As We Know It.

Nominated: Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - DramaWillem Dafoe portrays Vincent van Gogh in At Eternity’s Gate by Globe-winning director Julian Schnabel (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, 2008). The tormented Dutch painter has most famously been played on screen by Kirk Douglas in Lust for Life.
