“The Bear” Serves Up a Second Course of TV Delicacy

After emerging as the bona fide TV sleeper hit of summer 2022, satisfying viewing palates of audiences and critics alike, FX’s The Bear is back for seconds from the crew at the grimy Chicago sandwich joint. The Bear follows culinary award-winning New York City chef de cuisine Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto, played by Jeremy Allen White, who earlier this year won both the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series.

I've definitely struggled with those questions throughout my life,” admits Abby Corrigan (Castle Rock; Homeland), in a press conference at the Monte Carlo Television Festival last week in Monaco. She is promoting the new Prime series: Harlan Coben’s Shelter, which is based on “Shelter,” the first novel in the best-selling young adult book trilogy by the writer Harlan Coben, and premiered at the festival.

Science-Fantasy Animated Film “Nimona” Proudly Celebrates Queerness

An unlikely duo going on a rambunctious colorful ride seeking truth and vindication is at the heart of the new animated film Nimona out in select US theaters this weekend and streaming on Netflix on June 30 – just in time to wrap up Pride month with themes of inclusivity and acceptance. Based on the New York Times bestselling webcomic character created a little over a decade ago by non-binary and transmasculine graphic artist ND Stevenson, Nimona is a mischievous teenage shapeshifter perceived as a villainous threat to be feared in a futuristic medieval world, when all she actually wants is to be accepted for who she really is while having fun creating chaos by transforming herself into various living beings.

ATX TV Festival 2023: Queer Stories We Want to See

Just in time to kick off Pride Month, this year’s ATX TV Festival in its 12th year featured one of the most thought-provoking discussions over the weekend-long events, tackling queer representation on the small screen and the dire need to expand it beyond the commonly repeated narratives. Titled “Queer Stories We Want to See,” the panel welcomed four actors who shared their own experiences and ideas of what Hollywood has to do to better serve and showcase LGBTQIA+ characters and stories, emphasizing that while some work has been done, a lot more still has to change and evolve.

To celebrate Pride Month, the newly branded Max (formerly HBO Max) is celebrating LGBTQ+ stories centered around queer joy, love, community and authentic storytelling under their initiative titled, “Human by Orientation”. The initiative not only celebrates and amplifies queer voices and stories through year-round programming, but also creates cultural moments including exclusive music performances, comedy specials and custom video series featuring queer creators.
