Fashion: Paris Fashion Week, Barbie & Red Carpet Trends

Elizabeth Debicki, Lupita N

Fashion and entertainment intertwined across the globe, creating golden moments as Golden Globe winners and nominees stole the spotlight with their style. Paris Fashion Week, the Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One and Barbie premieres showcased the variety of trends right now.

Barbie first. Margot Robbie continued the tightrope act of paying homage to the spirit of Barbie while still conveying a powerful woman. She chose a classic glam gown by Schiaparelli. The figure-hugging dress sparkled beneath the flashing lights. Her evening gloves were of black velvet, the skirt finished with a flounce pinpointed with a red rose. Her hair was 50s chic with updated roots on display to make it 2023. Note: she’s wearing a high pony – a trend we featured. The Australian finished the look with layers of diamond chokers and diamond studs. Of course, she wore black mules and as homage to Barbie, she carried a pink silk organza kerchief.

Meanwhile, designers like Balenciaga, Chanel, Dior, and Valentino continue to collab with established and rising stars, creating impactful messaging that this is the moment of the individual as the line between entertainment and style blurs and merges.

Michelle Yeoh stunned in two equally striking and variant looks. The golden sheath and dramatic pale sunshine yellow gown, flowing and feminine, both by Balenciaga, who also created the edgy all-black look on Natasha Lyonne during Paris Fashion Week.

(Center) Lupita Nyong’o brought high fashion and edge with a Chanel pairing of a pink and yellow glittered cashmere cardigan which the Mexican-Kenyan actress and movie director paired with a purple and silver glittered tweed vest and matching shorts.

Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris star, Alba Baptista, went with Miu Miu while Thuso Mbedu went with Dior. Margaret Qualley chose an almost sheer Chanel. Scroll through to see other standout stars on this week’s red carpet round-up, including America Ferrera and Ryan Gosling at the Barbie World Premiere.
