In honor of Earth Day on April 22, we would like to celebrate some of the most recent documentaries that raise critical environmental issues. Environmental documentaries are becoming increasingly popular.

At the 8th Asian World Film Festival (AWFF) held last year, the newly designed Snow Leopard trophies created by Vietnamese-American artist and master sculptor Sir Daniel Winn were on display before the awards night. They were impressive works of art that were presented to the AWFF winners for best film, best actor and best actress, along with special jury, audience and distinction awards.

Arriving just in time to celebrate Earth Day comes the 10-part Apple documentary series, Big Beasts, narrated by English actor Tom Hiddleston. Big Beasts filmed over four years, takes audiences on an epic journey around the globe, from freezing poles to tropical rainforests to meet nature’s most captivating giants.

This week Israel is celebrating its 75th Independence Day, an opportunity to look back at the filmmakers and actors honored on the Golden Globes stage over the years. Whether they won the coveted award or not, they brought national pride just by being nominated.

Rod Steiger, Golden Globe winner for his role as a tough-talking Sheriff in In the Heat of the Night, was also known for his sarcasm in private life. “Actors sense that the wealth and adoration they enjoy for practically doing nothing is undeserved”, he said in a conversation with the HFPA.

In the horror film, Bury the Bride, Chaz Bono plays Puppy, a man of few words who is hiding a terrifying secret when he crashes a bachelorette party with friends including the groom-to-be. The film, directed by Spider One, was also produced by Bono, whose credits include Curb Your Enthusiasm and American Horror Story.

Former journalist and HFPA member Mike Goodridge has come a long way from the days when he was attending press conferences and voting for the Golden Globes. After returning to his UK home to edit a film magazine, he eventually joined Protagonist Pictures as CEO.

Blindspotting is an American comedy-drama series and a spin-off sequel to the 2018 film of the same name. This Oakland-based project centers on struggles with gentrification, police violence, and the inequalities of the American criminal justice system.

Take a tour bus and turn it into a mobile after-school activity facility; or a delivery truck and convert it into a drinking water treatment plant; or a fire truck and transform it in a dance studio. This is Rennervations, the new Disney + traveling reality show co-produced and hosted by Jeremy Renner.

While the global pandemic produced huge creative problems for those trying to film their stories in isolation, it was an unexpected gift for Mrs. Davis showrunner, executive producer and writer Tara Hernandez and her new collaborator and co-creator of the show, Emmy Award-winning creative Damon (Lost, Watchmen, The Leftovers) Lindelof.
