Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, Austin Butler, Ana de Armas, Ariana DeBose and more.
Oscar fashion continued the trend started at the Golden Globes in January – black and white reigned, with pops of jewel tones – but in terms of cut and structure, individual style was the key.
Michelle Yeoh, the Golden Globe winner took home the Best Actress Oscar wearing an ethereal feathered Dior gown. White trended.
Others who went with the hue included Ana de Armas in a Louis Vuitton with a ruffled lower skirt. Jessica Chastain in Gucci, Sofia Carson (Giambattista Valli), Ariana DeBose (Versace), and Eva Longoria in a semi sheer Zuhair Murad with Chopard Jewels.
Winner for Best Supporting Actress, Jamie Lee Curtis chose a sparkling, fitted sheath (Dolce & Gabbana) that took on different hues from flesh, to silver, to white, depending on how the light hit it.
Lady Gaga wowed in a dramatic black Vera Wang. The perennial color was a choice for Rihanna in a stripy Alaia that revealed and concealed. Others who went with the classic color were: Elizabeth Olsen (Givenchy), Nicole Kidman in a single-sleeved sheath with a daring slit revealing a slim length of leg (Armani Prive), Marlee Matlin with a feathered skirt and tux jacket (Dolce & Gabbana), and Vanessa Hudgens in a fitted two-piece by Chanel.
Angela Bassett chose a sculptured purple chiffon creation by Moschino. Jewel tones that were embraced as accents and in totality by a handful of stars.
Cara Delevingne wore hers in a ruby red Elie Saab. Melissa McCarthy chose a Siriano in bright red. Janelle Monáe used color as an accent teamed with a black bustier and striking orange satin skirt by Vera Wang. Cate Blanchett balanced a black velvet skirt with an iridescent shoulder enhanced, draped Louis Vuitton top in saphire.
Ke Huy Quan, the Golden Globe Best Supporting Actor winner took home the Oscar trophy in the same category. Like many men he wore a jeweled lapel pin.
Austin Butler stayed classic without adornment in a traditional tux by Saint Laurent. Dwayne Johnson went with a pale pink Dolce Gabbana double breasted tux with a matching boutonnière. Golden Globe winner Justin Hurwitz, chose velvet again in a baby blue tux. N. T. Rama Rao Jr. with a dramatic embellished shoulder.
